Historic Wisconsin Wedding Barn

Standing proud for over 150 years, the Harvest Moon Pond wedding barn was built in 1865. The Civil War had just ended, Abraham Lincoln had just been assassinated, and newlyweds George and Elizabeth Stevens decided to build the barn that is now known as Harvest Moon Pond. Over the years, the barn, farmhouse, outbuildings, and surrounding property were home to animals including dairy cows, an apple orchard, and five generations of family.

Fast forward to today, and the 18 acres of land surrounding the barn — which houses the Old Sheep Barn, the Smokehouse, and the Well-Pump House — make fabulous photo backdrops for couples on their wedding days. While the barn has been modernized to meet the needs of today’s couples, the original beams and woodwork inside are original from 1865. The charm and coziness of our wedding barn will leave your guests in awe!

Perhaps the most unique part about our historic Wisconsin wedding barn is that the original Lowville Town Hall building still sits on our property.  This is where all of the local couples would go to get their marriage licenses in the early 1900’s, so we believe Harvest Moon Pond was truly meant to be a wedding barn! We are so honored to share the rich history of Harvest Moon Pond with you, and we pride ourselves in the beautiful, unique weddings we host.

Modern Barn Amenities

The most recent previous owners were fifth-generation descendants of George and Elizabeth Stevens. The Whirry’s poured their hearts into transforming the Harvest Moon Pond barn into the venue it is today. While preserving the barn’s historic rustic charm, they enhanced it with heating, air conditioning, indoor restrooms, and much more.

Our historic Wisconsin wedding barn features an open-concept layout that can hold 225 guests. On the main level we have beautiful farmhouse tables in addition to an elevated head table space that seats up to 125 guests.  The upper loft overlooks the main level and can seat up to 100 additional guests.

Both areas of the barn are completely indoors and fully climate controlled. Because of this, our couples and their guests never have to fear rain or snow on their wedding day.

Additionally, the main level of the barn is handicap accessible and our venue features parking lot for 180 cars.

Tips for Choosing a Barn Wedding Venue in Wisconsin

Here at Harvest Moon Pond, we know all the important things to look for when choosing a barn wedding venue. Here are our top tips when deciding on a wedding venue to book for your big day.

1. Make sure the wedding venue is updated.

Many historical Wisconsin wedding barn venues are not updated with modern amenities like heat & air conditioning, and in Wisconsin we believe this is a must.  At Harvest Moon Pond, our wedding barn isn’t the only thing that’s up-to-date. We also have a paved, lit parking lot and a stunning new bar with in house bar service that will keep your guests happy the entire time!

2. Consider the additional spaces at the venue.

We like to think that we are “more than just a barn” and hope you do too! Whether you are looking for an indoor barn wedding or a beautiful outdoor wedding with a barn reception, we have you covered. Harvest Moon Pond features four outdoor ceremony locations, one indoor ceremony location, an open air patio for cocktail hour and a beautiful indoor reception area in the barn, and none of them cost any extra to utilize.  In addition to the ceremony and reception spaces for your day, the property features 10+ acres of stunning grounds for all of your wedding day photos. Since we are an exclusive venue, you are the only couple in the entire venue. You’ll have plenty of time to prepare for your big day, and you’ll never have to share the space with anyone but your loved ones since the entire property is yours for the day.

3. Make sure you have a plan for restrooms.

Some barn venues do not have permanent indoor restrooms, but Harvest Moon Pond does. Our modern restrooms are fully climate controlled and located inside the main wedding barn for easy access for you and your guests. We have 2 private handicap accessible restrooms on the main level and additional restrooms in the lower level. You won’t have to worry about bringing in portable restrooms or having to trudge through the elements to get to them.

4. Choose a venue that is versatile for your vision and style.

For your reception, our wedding barn makes for the perfect backdrop for any wedding style. It has the ability to be more rustic, boho, or elegant depending on the decor used. We love seeing how couples choose to utilize the space and make it unique for their special day.  For more wedding day inspiration visit our instagram page or pinterest page.  If you have a vision in mind and would like to see some pictures for inspiration, feel free to reach out and we are happy to share more.

“I couldn’t have dreamed of a more gorgeous barn venue. Their place has all the charm of a real barn on the inside, with the year-round comfort of an insulated, heated/cooled, newly constructed facility. Absolutely beautiful grounds for taking photos, too. 1,000% recommend!” – Emily, bride
