Meet the owners
We’re Dave and Paige! Madison area wedding photographers who fell in love with the barn and the property a few years back while enjoying a music night! After spending years in the wedding industry we had seen a lot of venues, but nothing quite as charming as this one. Together we dreamed of what it would be like to own a venue like Harvest Moon Pond one day. Life has a way of putting you exactly where you belong, and in 2024 that dream became a reality. Since then, we have been happily raising our family here and running the venue together. It’s a full family affair, and we feel so grateful for the opportunity to continue the work we love on a larger scale!
OUR HISTORY
The year was 1865….. the end of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated just after being inaugurated into his second term, Lewis Carroll published “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, the 13th Amendment of the United States Constitution is ratified, abolishing slavery…. and George and Elizabeth Stevens, newly married, built the barn that is today known as Harvest Moon Pond. A few years later, and not too far from Lowville, Laura Ingalls Wilder and Frank Lloyd Wright would be born & make their own mark on Wisconsin & American history.
Over the years, the barn, farmhouse, outbuildings (to include an old smokehouse & the original Lowville Town Hall) and surrounding property were home to horses, dairy cows, sheep, chickens, hogs, an apple orchard, and five generations of family. The barn itself received an addition in 1905, almost doubling its size, and the silo that stands steadfast & adjacent to the barn, was added in the early 1960’s.
Fast forward to 2011: Gary & Renee Whirry (Renee is a 5th generation descendent of George & Elizabeth Stevens) purchased the barn. With heart, passion and an incredible work ethic, Gary & Renee transformed the barn into a beautiful Poynette wedding venue and event center they called The Barn at Harvest Moon Pond. They not only preserved the barn’s historic charm, they enhanced it with heating, a/c, restrooms and much more. With the help of two giant willow trees, a spring fed pond and an old windmill, the Whirry’s created a stunning park-like setting that serves as the perfect backdrop for outdoor weddings & events.
The Whirry’s are now retired and have bestowed the new owners, Paige and Dave, with running the successful business and continuing the Lowville & family legacy that started over 150 years ago.

New Tradition That Honors Our History
We started a new tradition at Harvest Moon Pond and are so excited! It is important to us that we preserve the historic charm of the beautiful 1865 barn, honor the legacy of the families who started it all, and now we are thrilled to add to the history at Harvest Moon Pond in our own way. All of the couples who get married here become a part of our history and the horseshoe will be our symbol. Learn more
